2015 Club TT Season Review

2015 again saw some of our TT series curtailed by roadworks on the course, although we only had to cancel one event but had to use a shortened course on a couple of occasions. However, this still left 15 ‘normal’ evenings of racing. For continuity of results and to keep the Personal Best (PB) records of the TT intact only the results from the ‘normal’ events are included within the new PB and Handicap Table below.

NCRA first Summer Scratch Road Race

Corley - 3rd April 2016

Sunday 3rd saw the first NCRA Scratch RR of the season. Overnight rain left the circuit damp for warm up and the start of the race. In attendance were Simon R, David’s H & P, Tom D, Matt VB and Wayne T, notable absence being Gary, Tim and Dan B all struck down with near fatal man flu the previous week.

NCRA Handicap race series Race 3

This weekend's NCRA spring series road race, promoted by 45 Road Club was held at the Old Circuit; a flattish course with one notably fast downhill section and a leg sapping climb into Walgrave for the finish. There was a large club turnout with a dirty dozen of would be Wigginses taking to the start line and split across all four of the day's handicap groups. The weather was cool and dry with a stiff northerly headwind for the first section of the course.

Hennessy wins Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race

Jake Hennessy (St Neots CC second claim member) won the Jock Wadley Memorial Road Race on Sunday 13th March, by a comfortable margin, and against a three-strong collection of Pedal Heaven riders who were in the break with him.

NCRA Race 2 Handicap Series

Race at Rockingham Forest ends in a pile-up - Simon Rinaldo

We were to be blessed with some very pleasant weather for round 2 of the NCRA Handicap Road Race.  The race would be 30 miles, three laps around the Middleton circuit and was split into four handicap groups.  This is a circuit that I remember from my earlier racing exploits.  It is an excellent course with a few lumps and some long exhilarating fast sections.  The finish line is metres from the Rockingham Forest Wheelers club house.  I remembered the finish straight to be particularly difficult for bunch sprints as it is slightly downhill and generally fast.   Only ever won by excellent form or a great deal of luck.
