Treasurer’s Report

  • The Treasurer advised that club finances remain healthy.
  • Club membership currently stands at 136, with 17 new members in 2015. The retention rate remains broadly consistent with 2014 and overall membership is up from the same period last year.
  • CTT cheque for 2014 has still not been presented (Action: SR).
  • Some members who attended the Silverstone TTT had not paid their £10 entry fee at the time of writing. This will be followed-up as the Club has already subsidised entry to this event (Action: SR).

Racing and Time Trials

  • Post-TT tea, coffee and cake is proving to be a success with testers.
  • Purchase of x2 first aid kits complete. Invoice to be submitted to the Club (Action: AMc).
  • Turnout for the inter-club TT races has improved a little but has been been poor overall. The Hill Climb on 4 October is the final event for 2015. Details to be circulated to members (Action: SR).
  • The latest NDCA event has seen a 100% increase in Club members riding. Up from one to two.
  • It was agreed that the Club would affiliate with the Central Cyclo-Cross League for 2015/16 at a cost of £100 (Eastern League Cyclo-Cross affiliation is on a per-rider basis at the cost of £15) (Action: SR and AH).
  • NCRA road race season remains a successful one for the club with several top 10 places spread across different riders.
  • VC Chevaliers Bleu are promoting two closed road races at Alconbury on 28 July and 18 August for CAT2/3 and CAT4 riders. If the events are successful a winter series at the same location is being considered.
  • A number of Club members rode at the Benwick Kermesse on 26 July, marking Jake Hennessy's last race in SNCC colours.

CCF

  • Nothing to report.

Social Plans

  • The planned curry night on Friday 17 July was cancelled due to lack of interest. (Action: SW).
  • Club Century ride confirmed for 4 August (Action: SW & GN).
  • Club Summer BBQ to be confirmed (Action: SW).
  • Planning to begin for the Annual Awards Dinner event (Action: SW).
  • It was noted that the social element of the Club is very quiet and that a more personal approach may be required to promote upcoming events (Action: SW).
  • The Club trip to the Elan Valley in September is now likely to be cancelled due to lack of interest. The Club will be required to honour any related cancellation costs and therefore it is unlikely that any future trips will be organised by the Club (Action: AMc).
  • The Club discussed hosting a Reliability Ride early in 2016 (Action: SW).

Autumn Breeze 2015

  • We have received £114 in entry fees to date and paid out £99 for feedstation hire and a further £50 for BC registration.
  • Supported charity for 2015 to be confirmed (Action: AMc).
  • There was a brief discussion around utilising a portion of the sportive profits to support members racing in Club colours. Further discussion is needed.
  • Further spending on signage will be required (Action: RO).
  • The next planning meeting is to be scheduled for August (Action: AMc).

Bidlake Memorial

  • No commitment of support has been received from other local Clubs. A gentle reminder will be issued and after that SNCC will act without their support. It was agreed that support would take the form of hiring a gardener 3 – 4 times per year for the upkeep of the memorial. The Club will keep the Bidlake Memorial Trust updated on all actions (Action: SR).

AOB

  • It was agreed to record accidents occurring during club runs, but that the data would be anonymised (Action: RO).
  • It was agreed that the Go Ride children's jerseys were non-recoverable and the cost of £250 would be written-off by the Club.
  • A number of members were unaware of the Ashman, suggesting that the website calendar should not be assumed as the only “go-to” reference point for Club events. Further discussion needed.
  • A coaching session for new riders was discussed with a view to arranging in mid-August. Grafham Water was discussed as a possible venue (Action: RO).
  • The Club has no plans to assist with logistics for members travelling to Denmark for the UCI event in September. It was suggested that recommendations for bike bags/boxes, etc, be requested/posted to the Club forum.
  • Planning for the Club's AGM will begin shortly. The AGM will be held in late October (Action: AMc).

August Committee Meeting

  • The August committee meeting will be held at the White Horse in Eaton Socon on Monday 17 August at 19:30.
