So, after 20 events and 55 different riders the final St Neots Cycling Club Time Trial of the 2012 season was upon us. 21 riders took part in the season’s finale which also decided the winner of the 2012 Handicap Trophy.
Congratulations to Steve Pleasance who has won the 2012 Handicap TT trophy with 178.5 points, followed by Jonathan Pang on 165 points and Steve Muchmore on 146.50 points.
This was the penultimate TT of the season and a number of the contenders were assessing the number of riders and how many points would be on offer this evening. We were greeted by a warm but overcast evening on the course with only a slight wind to contend with.
25 riders rode out on the Abbotsley circuit this evening for the 3rd to last TT of the season. We did not repeat the “gold rush” of last week's 12 Personal Bests, however 4 riders did manage to spin the pedals well enough to record another 4 PBs.
Just as Team GB have been experiencing a “gold rush” at the Olympics, St Neots Cycling Club TT riders hit the heights with 12 Personal Bests on a night of superb conditions.
There could not have been more of a contrast between the weather tonight and that of last week. The balmy conditions of a week ago were replaced with constant heavy rain and it did not relent at any time for the 17 riders who contested tonight’s TT.
Superb conditions for the 29 riders who took part in the TT, and congratulations to the 12 who set PB’s this evening. Even John and Brian were struggling to remember the last time we had that many in the field.
Another excellent turnout this evening with 20 riders seeking to improve on their PBs and to add to their points tally for the Handicap Trophy. Compared with the storms of last week the conditions were much more in favour of good performances with only a slight wind and a relatively cool evening. 16 members, 1 “Come and Try” and 3 guests made up the field.
