TT Results for 22nd May 2014

The prospect for a decent evening’s racing appeared slim before 5pm with rain, lightning and thunder all contending to spoil the conditions for the racers. However by 7pm as 23 riders gathered at the start the conditions had mellowed, the roads were dry and the wind had dropped.

Congratulations to Adrian Taverna who took first place on the night with a time of 27.08 followed by Simon Richardson and David Lindsay, who both pushed under 28 minutes for the first time, with times of 27.43 and 27.48 respectively.

Another 6 PB’s were achieved by Mark Mossop, Mark Greenhow, Lewis Rooney, Gary Newman and Alec Pybus taking the tally for the evening to 8.

Bad luck for Steve Walker, Jon Keefe and Dom Whitehead who all punctured on the route and chapeau to Steve for persisting to the finish and also to Ash Cooper who went back out in his van to pick Jon up

Handicap Trophy

Simon Richardson seems determined to be in the hunt for the Handicap Trophy posting his 4th PB of the season to take maximum points on the night and opening up a lead of 16 points over the consistent Mark Mossop with Christian Tredidgo ready to close the gap should either of them have a drop in form.

Good to see Alistair (in his 6th decade) splitting the youngsters on the night to take 18 points.

So 5 out of 18 TT’s completed for this season already, however still plenty of points on offer over the next 13 weeks for those who can achieve PBs or better on a consistent basis and also make sure that they do not miss too many Thursdays !!

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at the latest at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Non-members are welcome to “Come and Try.
