Sunday dawned clear and warm, promising to be the hottest day of the year.  Twenty three riders turned up in the Market Square to enjoy the weather.

Seven of us decided to ride with Group 2 - several Group 2 regulars elected to move up to Group 1. A big welcome to Morgan Bacon on his first Club Ride, although we had met him last Thursday at the T.T. It was good to see Tony Frost again after a lengthy absence.

And so the ‘Magnificent Seven’ left the Market Square and headed out to Offord D’Arcy then on to Hilton, Conington and Knapwell. We then crossed the A428 to Bourn and continued on to Gamlingay but by the time we reached The Cinques, Tony decided that he had had enough for his first outing in a while and headed back to St.Neots. The group then rode on to Everton where many had not experienced going down the 14% hill before, great fun. (It's even greater fun going up it - Ed). When we reached Tempsford, Mick decided that it was time he headed home for a family event. Then we sped onto Blunham, Great Barford and Colmworth and finally completed our ride back at the St Neots Market Square. Group 2 covered 49 miles at a steady pace and managed to top up our sun tans.

Group 1 got off to a late start. Richard O had already texted to say he was running late, but would meet the bunch on the road. Not that it mattered, since Ade had sent a similar message to say he was running even later. Well he is Italian and it is August...By mid morning, OK, by 8.45, 16 of us headed south to Tempsford then Great Barford. From there, apart from a combine blocking the road, we had a clear run to Little Staughton and Kimbolton. It was getting warm now, so we continued north for some cooler air and headed to the Giddings then looped back to Kimbolton via Winwick, Clopton and Catworth.

We stopped off in Kimbolton to refill water bottles and decide the leg home. The Buckden area riders split off, while Geoff was pretty insistent that everyone else take the longer route home to St Neots via Bushmead.

By the end we had covered a fairly lumpy 60 miles at around 19.5mph. Finally a warm welcome to new member Kevin who braved group 1 for his first club run.
