Club Run Report - 28th September

Sunday morning in late September, 40 in the Market Square, no wind, mild if not warm, arm warmers discarded. Four groups, a long group, two medium groups and a short group. What's not to like?

I rode with the medium "fast" group, and it was totally enjoyable from beginning to end. Wayne got the group rotating at one to two minute intervals, and we rode in a nice tight group in twos all the way round. Apart from the odd hill where the group naturally split a little, and where the stronger riders waited to regroup, that was the order of the day. Good route, good company, good miles.

There was one occasion where we arrived at a crossroads and "left", "straight on" and "right" were all shouted out. In those circumstances, lacking a Garmin, you just have to pull over and let the Garministas sort it out.

Going round a corner, somehow I misheard a shout of "conkers" (it's that time of year) and relayed it at the top of my voice "Puncture!". Hmm - deaf as a post. We really had one later on, at the start of the Bushmead straight, but it didn't hold us up for long.

The route was mainly northerly which means we had a few nice little hills like Barham, Catworth, Spring Hill and so on. Jonathan P was with us on only his second club run back - he stuck in there and did extremely well to get round at a good average, even taking a few turns on the front. One of the most enjoyable club runs, so thanks to all who rode.
