Well we are now into May but any expectations of “Spring / Summer" weather remain on hold as we woke to overcast skies, a chill in the air, but thankfully no rain this week.

15 turned up at the Market Square and Mark was our routemaster for the day. Tim and Alistair were the only ones showing some "leg" this morning with the others deciding that all extremities should be covered up. Alec was displaying a nifty line of headwear (purple hat with a drawstring coming out of the top)  (which various people threatened to pull as we went along - Ed) which would not have been out of place on the ski slopes!!

Mark's route was out to the Gransdens, Comberton, Madingley, Oakington, Cottenham, Willingham, Swavesey, Fen Drayton, Graveley and home.

Good steady pace as far as Madingley where Group 1 opened a gap on Group 2 and the pace for Group 1 picked up with Tim and Ade notching up the revs and even some contested "sprinting for the village signs" with Tim leaving it very late on occasion to make up ground. Honours on the village signs shared by Tim, Steve and Ade. The Toseland straight proved another good leg stretcher on the run into St Neots.

Group 2 more or less kept to the set route and notched up a magnificent 50 miles compared with the slackers of Group 1 who did only 48!! On our way to Graveley Group 2 picked up Leon Bradford, another St Neots rider who was on his way back from a long ride in the Fens. Group 2 would like to thank Trevor for the coffee at Cafe Nero, he really earned it!!
