Sunday 24th February 2019 - £3,000 raised for Charity

The car park at Titan was bulging with 244 riders and bikes eager to sign on for our 2019 RR and a big thank you to the 60 club members who took part and to George and the team at Titan for the use of their premises.

Mandy McEvoy and Karen Newton from Titan made sure that the sign in process went smoothly and were then on hand to dispense food and refreshments post ride – thank you.

In the background Ruth Stapleton worked hard to promote the event across social media and Mike Biggs made sure that everyone who part in the 2018 Sportive was made aware of the event and with glorious Sun on tap it could not have been a better day to enjoy the 60 or 100km route.

We had 184 guest riders from all over and a special thanks to the many riders from Bedford who had an early morning start to join us. The age range was from 14 to 77 and there were a few family groups ( good to see Becky and Michael Leyland back for the day with us ) , a few father / mother / sibling groups and our own SNOGs were out in force.

With Titan matching pound for pound the minimum entry levy of £5 we raised £3,000 on the day to be split between MIND and Breast Cancer Research. Thanks to all entered and to those who paid more than the £5 entry fee.

Gary Adnitt, Chairman of SNCC, said “when you organise an event like this in February, you are weather dependent and with an average of 80 riders for the event for the past 3 years, we were blown away with 244 riders this year. It shows what some good weather and some building publicity surrounding the event can do for you! We had riders from Bedford and Cambridge and much further afield too who we would like to thank for supporting us, as well as our own members with whom we ride most weekends”.

George Lendrum, Managing Director of Titan, said “Titan were very happy to provide the HQ for the event and many of the Titan staff also took part, especially as all the proceeds were being donated to MIND and Breast Cancer Research”.

SNCC (www.stneotscyclingclub.co.uk) express huge thanks to Holdsworth Foods (www.holdsworthfoods.co.uk) for providing all the post event food and to Exsa Imports (www.exsa-imports.co.uk) for pre-event bananas and would also like to thank all the members who contributed to the success of the day and Titan for the generous use of their premises as HQ.

Titan (www.titan.uk.net) has been based in St Neots for 45 years, manufacturing high performance automotive components and systems for low and medium volume, high-ranking vehicle manufacturers. The company moved from London in 1969 and employs nearly 100 people at its immaculate facilities at Harley Industrial Park on Paxton Hill, St Neots.
