3 PB’s tonight and welcome to two young rising stars

On yet another glorious dry and warm evening 22 riders were at the start line for the 14th SNCC TT of the 2018 season . Two very young men – Blake and Lyndon – aged 8 and 11 joined us for their TT debut and although Blake took a wrong turn on the course congratulations to both for competing and completing the 11.2 mile course. Thanks to Wayne for bringing his sons and encouraging them on the start of their cycling adventures.

We thought that it would be good to record the age range on the night and the accompanying picture shows Leon Bradford ( who will be 77 in November) and Blake and Lyndon with their bikes.

Quickest home this evening with a PB of 25:14 was Tom Stead followed by a very old friend of the Club, Kevin Stokes 26:56, and the ever improving Simon Murphy who took third spot with another PB in 27:43.

One more PB was recorded by Richard Bond who found another five seconds on the night. His father, Martin, just managed to keep the family bragging rights being three seconds quicker. On the Handicap Table they both have 69 points and perhaps the bragging rights will change before the end of the season.

Welcome back to Mark Colmer on his first visit to the TT since 2014 although rumour has it he was only there for the post TT rehydration beer in Offord. Good to see 8 riders taking their rehydration seriously at the Horseshoe !!

Superb flapjacks made by Mandy were quickly devoured by the riders at the TT.

Average time this evening was 30:48 (ex the boys) and to date 48 members have taken part this season. We would encourage more members to join us on a Thursday evening.

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 17 riders and 16 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2018 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Congratulations to James for finding another 28 seconds of time and securing the maximum points this evening.
