3 PBs this evening

Warm and dry conditions were on hand to greet the 20 riders ready to test themselves on the challenging 11.2-mile SNCC TT course this evening.

Simon Murphy was quickest home this evening with a 25:12 which took 10 seconds from his PB followed by Simon Elkington who was only two seconds from his PB with Pat in third spot.

Adding to the list of PB’s were Gordon Foster who took 25 seconds from his debut time of the prior week and Jim Robertson who posted his second consecutive PB by finding another 2 seconds on the night. Congratulations to all three.

Welcome tonight to John Crack who made his TT debut on this course and posted a respectable 31:50 time.

The race for the 2019 Handicap Trophy continues with the two Simon’s still in contention with a current gap of 26.5 points.

Once again, we must ask all riders to respect the rules of the road especially when approaching and taking the left hand turns on the course. Moving across the white line may improve the racing line for the turn, however if you are on the wrong side of the road and there is an accident the implications for the rider and the future of the course are in jeopardy.

Our thanks this evening to Mandy, John and Simon for all their help to allow the rest of us to ride.

Housekeeping: Reminder that the CTT levy increased to £3/TT for 2019 and a request that once the first riders have lined up for the start that other riders do not ride past the start line as part of their warm up.

Next TT – Thursday 15th August – Sign on by 7.00 and Start at 7.15 pm

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 20 riders and 16 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2019 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Congratulations to Gordon for taking the maximum points.

Handicap Trophy – 2019 – Running Total

The destiny of the 2019 Handicap Trophy remains undetermined as we enter the final phase of the season with 3 TT’s left.

For the leaders any TTs missed now could easily affect the outcome for the Trophy and riding to your PB or improving it for the next 3 events will certainly keep them in contention.

Simon Murphy has opened up 26.5 point lead over Simon Elkington but will this be enough to take home the Trophy or will Simon Elkington win for the third consecutive year?
