See the gallery below for the photos of the Time Trial on the 4th July 2013. Conditions were still and hot and I stood on the sharp turn from the St Neots Road onto the road that goes to Abbotsley golf club. You'll notice that the bravest, most banked over rider is Leon - this is not an illusion!
17 riders took part in the 11th TT of this season and following on from his excellent 26.38 of last week, Tom Stead took another minute of this time to deliver another PB in 25.38.
Fresh from his superb performance at the European Sprint Tri, Tom Stead was fastest at the club Time Trial in very wet conditions, in a great time. Guest, Neil Wood, was second fastest, with Adrian Taverna, the next club member, beating the 30 minute barrier again.
A few folk may regret not attending the TT this evening as the conditions were excellent as evidenced by the 6 PBs recorded . The heavy downpour had dissipated by the start of the TT and although the skies were grey and heavy there was hardly any wind for the 12 riders tackling the 11.2 mile sporting course.
There were 18 riders this evening with Yvonne Cosbie making her TT debut and the field led home by Darren Preston, followed by “Mr Consistency” Adrian Taverna in second place. The wind and the weather had clearly deterred a few riders and with a strong south westerly the first 3 miles were into the wind making the climb up to the first turn a challenge.
The previously published time for Ed Porteous was 3 minutes too long. A revised result table is below. Apologies to Ed.
A record number of riders were out this evening with 31 willing to test themselves on our challenging 11.2 mile sportive course. Making their club debuts were Tom Yewbery and Hastan Brooks with young Tom almost breaking the 30 minute mark. Welcome back to Mick Lawrence for his first TT of this season and congrats managing a PB of 28.36.
We had 23 riders this evening, including four members making their TT debuts (Joanna, Joe , Chris and Ed) and another new guest from Milton Keynes, Jason Lee, who took the honours on the evening with the fastest time of 26.39.
This was the fifth Time Trial of the 2013 St Neots Cycling Club series and clearly the rain showers and cold earlier in the day had deterred a few riders. However 16 were prepared to brave the elements on this cold evening.
The 4th TT of the St Neots Cycling Club series for 2013 saw 27 riders at the start looking to test themselves on the challenging 11.2 mile sportive course at Abbotsley.
Unlike last week, the conditions were very favourable this evening allowing 11 PBs to be set and notable amongst these were Chris Ritchie getting under 28 minutes for the first time and Adrian Taverna breaking the 29 minute barrier. New member, Darren Preston, continues to impress, with all his times this year under 29 minutes.
