Benign conditions greeted the 20 riders taking part in the 10th TT of the season on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.
These conditions produced 12 PBs from the 18 St Neots Club members and tonight Simon Richardson took the honours with a 27.41 followed by David Lindsay and Mark Greenhow.
This evening, as we all know, was marred by Jonathan’s crash and our thoughts are with him as he now recovers from his injuries.
A brief summary of the results on the night :
Given the superb conditions this evening, it was surprising that there were only 22 riders ready at the start line for the 8th SNCC TT of the 2014 season. Cambourne was well represented with seven riders this evening including for the first time Andrew Davy and it was also good to see Dave Rooney back for another ride on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.
24 riders were ready at the start line this evening for the 7th SNCC TT of the 2014 season .
Honours were taken by new member Nic Pillinger trying his first TT with us and getting home in first place with a 27.04, followed by Simon Richardson and David Lindsay who were both under 28 minutes but just short of their respective PB’s.
For the sixth TT of the SNCC season 20 riders gathered at the start of the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course to test themselves this evening. Talk at the start was of a strong tail wind up to the 3 mile turn to the golf course with a head wind expected on the last 4 miles through Waresley. These conditions favoured Neil Wood, a regular guest at our TT's for the past 2/3 years, who came home in 27.05 followed by Ade Taverna with a 28.08 and with Simon Richardson third in 28.39.
The prospect for a decent evening’s racing appeared slim before 5pm with rain, lightning and thunder all contending to spoil the conditions for the racers. However by 7pm as 23 riders gathered at the start the conditions had mellowed, the roads were dry and the wind had dropped.
What a beautiful Sunday morning for a Time Trial with warm weather and relatively light wind. There was a bit of confusion caused when the car park hadn't been opened, so after a rushed transfer to the Golf Course for sign on, a small field of 13 riders lined up for the start, setting off at minute intervals.
Thursday was a superb evening for the TT enjoyed by 29 riders and resulting in 10 PBs on the night.
The benign conditions suggested that there would be some good times and Ian Turner, Richard Hancock and Adrian Taverna took the top 3 places with respective times of 25:27, 25:33 and 26:47 on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley sporting course.
The St Neots Cycling Club Open TT will be held this Sunday May 18th 2014. Rider information is below.
For the 14 riders who turned up for tonight's TT the start of the course had to be moved to the other side of temporary traffic lights due to to work in the village resulting in a shortened course with the finish just over the top of the hill in the village near the Church. The consequence is that PBs cannot be awarded for this ride , however Handicap Trophy points were still on offer.
