29 riders for season-opening TT
Following the disappointment of the first TT of the season being cancelled last week this did not deter 29 riders from taking on the challenging 11.2 mile course. Conditions were dry with the wind generally in the rider’s favour but being the first TT of the season it would be interesting to see how the riders would perform on the evening.
For 9 riders this evening this was their first SNCC Time Trial and we hope that you all enjoyed the experience and will return on more Thursday evenings. Of the 9 we had one rider aged 75 – Bob Tate – and another aged 17 – Ollie Hennessey – which shows that the TT can be for anyone and we would encourage any member who has not tried the event to at least come and give it a try.
Amongst the group we had two Father and Sons – Martin and Richard Bond and Mike and Daniel Biggs and in both cases the Father’s prevailed in their respective tussles.
On the night a regular guest from last year Ryan Witchell took the honours with a 24:28 an improvement of 15 seconds on 2017 followed by David Lindsay in second and well done to Graham Wesson on his first ride for posting a 27:20 to take third place. Well done to Ollie, Jamie and Graham for going sub 30 minutes on their first ride.
A net time of under 25 minutes delivers a PB and congratulations to Ruth and Simon for taking 46 and 18 seconds from their PBs. Ruth now leads the Handicap Table for the 2018 Handicap Trophy but with another 17 weeks to go the destiny of the Trophy will not be decided until towards the end of August.
Andrew Kinglake’s last club TT was in 2012 and good to see him go sub 30 minutes after all these years away
10th May 2018 for the next TT – sign on by 6.45 pm for a 7 pm start

Handicap Results
Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 29 riders and 18 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it.
A handicap time > 25 minutes shows how much you missed your PB by. To be in contention for points you need to ride close to your PB or improve on it.
Congratulations to Ruth for taking the maximum points on the evening.
