SNCC Win the team standing for this round

Last Sunday saw the 25 mile event in the Inter-Club series hosted by CC Ashwell on the F14/25 course ( www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/course-details/f14-25 ) with 10 riders taking the start line for SNCC in a field of around 70 in total
Although the individual winner was (literally) miles in front of the rest of the field, we took 3rd in the men's with Mark G and 4th in the women's with Ruth and with everyone else not too far behind we had around half the top 15 finishers overall. As such, and for the first time since we joined the competition several seasons ago, we won the event overall......which as its an Inter-Club team contest is what it is all about!

Given the new scoring system which more fairly represents the efforts of both male & female riders, one of the clubs again saw the majority of their points scored by their lady riders and it would be really nice to see us doing similar (or at least getting close) in future events. As ever, the competition is open to everyone, and every rider really can make the difference between success or not. I can also vouch for the spirit the events are contested in as a warm-up puncture saw me scuttling back to HQ for a spare wheel only to find my car keys weren't accessible.......just when I thought I'd be making no contribution a spare wheel, track pump and allen key set were forthcoming from members of other clubs to allow me to retake the start line

the next round is the 10 mile event on Saturday 4th August on the F15/10 course at Brogborough ( www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/course-details/f15-10 ) with first rider off at 2pm - previous years have seen riders ride at anywhere between 12 and 32 mph average, so assuming you can all ride 10 miles and would be within that speed range you will fit right in and can enter simply by e-mailing the club by Tuesday 31st (and if you can manage more than 32mph we really really want to hear from you!)
