31 at the TT and 6 PB’s

Quite a contrast tonight with 31 riders at the start line versus the 11 intrepid riders from last week.

Tonight we had a good mixture of first timers in Wayne Hamilton and Keith Gotch , some of the “old faces” making their 2019 debut – David Lindsay , Mark Greenhow , Chris Green , Matt Charter , Dawn Parr and Paul Littledyke – some old members and guests in James Dent , Luke Hattersley and Mick Hodson.

Although dry and free from rain, unlike the past two weeks, there was a biting wind and a few were regretting not bringing more layers to keep warm.

The view was that the 3 mile run to the first turn would be wind assisted and so it proved and although not quite so helpful up by the golf course the wind was generally in the riders favour around the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.

Nic Pillinger posted and excellent 25 minutes which is only five seconds from his PB followed by Mick Hodson with our own Simon Elkington going under 26 minutes for the first time in third spot.

6 PB’s this evening and congratulations to Mandy , Matt C , Simon M , Richard , Matt G and Simon E. Mandy will have the bragging rights in the Rogers family taking 56 seconds from her PB whilst Roger was only able to manage a 26 second improvement !!

Housekeeping : Reminder that the CTT levy increased to £3/TT for 2019 and a request that once the first riders have lined up for the start that other riders do not ride past the start line as part of their warm up.

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 31 riders and 24 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2019 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Handicap Trophy – 2019 – Running Total

At the moment the ever consistent Simon M and Simon E with 3 PBs between them this season are continuing to lead the race for the 2019 Handicap Trophy. Watch out for Matt Gurnell who has posted 2 PBs over the past 2 weeks to keep pushing and of course Leon who at the tender age of only 77 continues to ride consistently to his PB and keeps amassing the points.
