NCRA Race 24th Mar 18 – Wellingborogh

27 ish mile handicap race round the old circuit, this time Simon Murphy, and myself were in the 2nd group, setting off 2 minutes after the 1st group, and 2 minutes before group 3.  This time group 4 was caught, but only at the final turn to the finish, and group 3 was only seen again at the finish line.  This was a fast group, with the race complete in just over an hour, and some suspect 4th Cat's in the group.

This group did work really well for the first 2 laps, but on the final lap, only four riders worked for the duration of the lap, with other riders contributing either when this could or sporadically.  This week, the back straight had a tail wind, which made it very difficult to distance any riders, so those who took less turns reserved energy for the final sprint.  As we caught the final rider from group 4 we headed down the finish straight, with approx. 15 riders racing for the win.  The sprint started somewhere (the 200 metre sign was not there), and the race finished there de-motivating the 3rd group who were unable to catch us!
