9th August 2017

It has been another busy couple of weeks for the for the time trialists in the club. The main event was the Interclub 10-mile TT held at Marston Moretaine. The Interclub competition is a series of 5 TTs held throughout the year in which St Neots CC, Beds Road Club, Icknield Road Club, CC Ashwell and Hitchin Nomads compete. The fastest 8 riders from each club earn points, and the club with the most points at the end of the series wins overall.

We only had 6 riders compete out of a field of 60+, but everyone put in a fantastic effort and achieved excellent placings, plus some much needed points!

Sam McDonald: 22:17 – 2nd place

Keith Barton: 22:41 – 5th place

Pat Ellerbeck: 23:28 – 9th place

Chris Green and Mark Greenhow: 24:37 – joint 15th place

Dave Wilson: 26:52 – 30th place

The riders were busy away from the Interclub competition too, with Pat Ellerbeck riding two 25-mile TTs in 2 weeks in 57:05 and 58:40 – his third and fourth sub-hour 25-mile TTs in as many weeks! Mark Greenhow set a new 10-mile PB of 21:29 on the Cambourne course, and Chris Green and Dave Wilson took part in the Bicester Millenium CC 10-mile TT, posting good times of 24:40 and 26:35, respectively.

The last Interclub TT of the year is a hill climb on 8th October, and it would be fantastic to get as many riders competing as possible. Being a hill climb you don't need any fancy aero gear, just your normal bike and jersey. It's great fun, and there is always a great selection of cakes to choose from at the HQ afterwards!
