TT Results for 1st June 2017

Another superb evening for the 6th SNCC TT of the season which was enjoyed by 26 riders including some “old faces” making their 2017 debut.

Warm welcome back to Becky Layland and Ian Turner and also to former member Mark Mossop.

The conditions promised a few PBs and 7 were delivered by Craig, Alan, Dawn, Norman, Alistair, Becky and Simon – well done to all these riders.

TT Results for 25th May 2017

A superb evening for the 5th SNCC TT of the season and the warm benign conditions were enjoyed by 26 riders around the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course. The wind on our backs for the first 3 miles to the golf club turn made for a very good start to the TT.

The portents were all in place for a number of PBs to be delivered this evening and there were 8 in total, led by James Dent taking 55 seconds from his PB followed by Pat ( 36 seconds) , Wayne ( 27s) , Ruth ( 21s) , Nic ( 13s) , Mick ( 11s) , Dawn ( 7s) and Dave Salmon ( 3s). Well done to all eight.

TT Results for 18th May 2017

A complete contrast to the previous week when the sun shone and the wind was in the rider’s favour, changed to a night of rain and damp conditions with low cloud hanging over the 11.2 mile Abottsley course.

The weather, however, did not deter the 17 riders who turned up for the 4th SNCC TT of the 2017 season.

TT Results for 11th May 2017

It was the first sunny evening we had had so far this season and good weather usually sees an excellent turn out. 30 rides turned up to ride the 11.2 mile course and it was lovely to see so many new and old faces. It was nice to see Andrew Kluth back from his travels and we welcomed Norman King to our small but friendly group. James Tucker came out to see if he could beat his course record set last season and brought his partner who we might get to see riding the course once she’s back to full fitness.

TT Results for 4th May 2017

Whilst the rain stayed away for this 11.2 mile circuit of the Abbotsley course the cold had set in with a vengeance and there were many types of clothing being used by the riders to try and retain a modicum of warmth around their bodies.

However this did not deter 25 riders from being at the start line for the second TT of the 2017 season.

TT Results for 27th April 2017

The unpleasant conditions on Thursday were not enough to deter the 13 riders who braved the elements to take part in the first SNCC TT of 2017.

We were delighted to see a new member to the Club - Dave Salmon – getting his first taste of the Abbotsley course and a welcome back to Adrian Lewis who has been missing in action for the past couple of years and to an old friend of the Club – Dom Whitehead – who has been riding the course for many years now.

The next event for the St Neots Race Team is the Watford Velo Sport Spring Road Race. The event is part of the new Central Road Race League and is a Regional A Race.

Good luck to the riders of our senior men’s road race team who are competing in their first race of the season, the Fenland Clarion Spring Road Race.

The Race is being held at the Upton course near Sawtry over 121km and is a National B event.

St Neots CC promoted race on 25th March

Saturday saw the 4th race in the NCRA spring series. The race was held on the Keysoe circuit and was the first of three being promoted by the club this year. After the previous weekend’s washout this Saturday the racers were treated to a fine warm day, but with just enough of a breeze to make the headwind bite.

Ahead of the start of what we all hope will be a great TT season; (1st race Thursday 26th April full dates below) and one in which we are hoping to see both as many new faces and old friends as possible, we will be having an 'intro' session this Thursday (23rd April) meeting at the 'normal' start point between Abbotsley and Collings Bros Meet 6:15 onwards for a 6:45pm group ride of the course

This is not a race night, nor a chance for anyone to set a handicap time ahead of the season proper. Instead, its a chance for anyone who either hasn't taken part in a club TT before, raced last year when the start & finish points were subject to change, or just fancies an excuse to get out on their bike and have a bit of a chat and a ride around the course to (re)familiarise themselves with the route, turns, landmarks and the odd dreaded pothole.  Before setting off to ride around the 11.2 mile course we'll run through the logistics of when to arrive, where to park, how to sign on, what to bring, where / how to pin your number on anything, start & finish procedures etc as well as answer any other questions anyone may have.  We also hope to be trialling the club's new mobile tea & coffee service, so theres a good reason in itself to come down!

We'll hopefully have a cross section of experienced riders (possibly including some recent winners of the Club's Points & Ashman Trophies) to share their experiences, and who will confirm that you needn't necessarily be armed with a TT bike, pointy hat or skinsuit (or dare we even say 'racing snake' physique) to end up at the end of the season with some silverware.

We're sure that if you ask anyone who has ridden a Club TT, they'll not only tell you how much they surprised themselves both with how much faster you can ride with a number pinned to your back and how addictive it can become, but hopefully also that you'll struggle to find a more enjoyable way to spend a Thursday evening.

We hope to see as many of you as possible there

The dates, start times and other event details for the 2018 programme of club TTs organised by St Neots CC on the Abbotsley course can be found below. Guest riders are welcome to ride these events apart from the Ashman Trophy.
