Morning all,
nightmare this morning had puncture on way to market square, so nipped home and changed it , slung bike in truck bombed around the beginings of several routes hoping to find you but no luck !

My Lessons learned

1:Throw out Michelin PRO3 Race tyres ,they cant go 50 miles without a puncture

2: Get some phone numbers of some of the regular riders

3: Try to find out the route if it hasnt been published.

Hope you all had a good ride

Rode Vittorias for years and loved them - fast running, puncture resitant, good grip. In the last five years they've turned to rubbish, they cut up, slide around and constant punctures. Switched to Conti GP4000S and am very pleased. Now that's put the jinx on them...

Hope you had a bit of a ride on your own.

Ash,
Wiggle have a tyre sale on at the moment. I've found Vredestein tyres to be very resilient.

I have had a similar problem with the Pro Race 3 tyres. However more with large flint cuts than punctures. The pro Race 4 are supposed to be less prone but I have just purchased some Kenda Kaliente LR3 Pro's from Chain Reaction Cycles. I am hoping for more miles out of them and less punctures!

I like shiny things

Pro 3s are a race tyre. They're fast and light, but I guess the compromise is durability. I use them and like riding them, but only when it's dry. If you use them after heavy rain when all the grit and crap is washed onto the road you're asking for a puncture...

Personally I think Conti GP4000s are better for an all round alternative. And they're still pretty quick

hi there i have used vittoria rubino pros for years now,, the new ones are great, i get up to 10k from them,, but change front to back and back to front on 6k.... bought 2 Michelin pro 3's in a sale .. front still going ok, back lasted 100kms,then blew out , the side wall was faulty.., Michelin tyres are very puncture prone,, the side walls cut up.. do not touch them,, as rostir says in the wet they are diabolical.. good luck..
