I entered this race as preparation for my target race this year, the Hemel Hempstead 10-mile TT. Unfortunately, I was left without a TT bike when my steerer tube broke at the start of the previous week's club TT. I was therefore left with a choice, withdraw from the event or race on my road bike. In the end, I decided on the latter. Having looked at the wind before the race, I anticipated a fast outward leg and slower return leg, so attempted to hold back slightly on the outward leg before attacking the return leg. However, after averaging 47.1 kph to the turn, I struggled on the return leg, unable to get the power out of my legs that I wanted. I managed to hold on to finish in a time of 21:42.

We were doing a TT but had mixed fortunes for us on the N1/15 course, unfortunately Sam felt very unwell at half way and had to retire, I managed a solid 38.12 on my road bike to be fastest road bike and 1st in my age group. The highlight was a sub 30 min by Oliver Peckover. Fast course today with a gentle side wind helping more on the way out than coming home, the final climb from Sawtry back towards Alconbury was hard work, so chapeau to Oliver for averaging over 30 mph.
Anastasia Bowler Hillingdon Team Cat B 34 miles (Top 20?) Sat Jun 10th
Saturday saw 5 of us take on the Will Houghton memorial race at Hillingdon, as part of the team Cup. Some hot racing had us chasing down the breaks when we could, but not managing to stop a solo breakaway going from another team. We all worked well within the bunch to try and position ourselves ready for the final few laps. 3 of us ended up in the top 20 after a very hectic final lap! Lots of learning to do but happy with our result as a team keeping us at third in the Team Cup standings.

A strong ride Sunday in rather warm conditions (no kidding), the usual long turn on the front, missed the break and spent the remainder of the race chasing hard , getting lots of practice in for the 50 mile TT in a few weeks.
