TT Report 11th July 2013

It was still 19 deg and sunny as the TT started but there was a stiff north-westerly breeze that would test the riders particularly through Waresley.

The almost perfect conditions produced 11 PBs this evening with Florence Lendrum taking 2.5 minutes off her PB and Yvonne Cosbie almost 2 minutes. Chapeau to Gareth Smith who started the season with a 33.14 for pushing under 30 minutes for the first time with a 29.50 and also good to see two of regular guest riders, Kevin Stokes and Paul Littledyke also turning in PBs this evening.

Simon Richardson returning from completing the Etape, clearly brought some form back with him whilst Dan Baxter was astride a new Scott Foil, and Steve Rodley was riding out on the course shouting welcome encouragement to those passing .

It was good to see Richard Pratt from Bedford who used to ride the course a few years ago joining us for the evening

Tom Stead led the field home for the second week in succession and even managed a further 4 seconds improvement on his PB to deliver a 25.34.

Ade Taverna punctured through the Cinqs and had to limp back around virtually half the course on a shredded tyre but still managed an impressive 37.30

This Thursday’s time trial takes place at the Croxton junction about a mile to the east of Abbotsley village with sign on at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Non-members are welcome to “Come and Try”

Handicap Trophy

One rider’s puncture is another rider’s gain and so it proved this evening with Jon Keefe adding another 5 points to his current lead over Ade Taverna.

The ladies – Florence and Yvonne – took first and second place on the handicap points with the best improvements on the night and Gareth Smith has now lifted himself into 3rd place with his sub 30 minute effort.
