Turner wins the penultimate TT

TT Report 22nd August 2013

The penultimate TT of the 2013 season saw 24 riders, including 6 guests, line up to take on the challenging 11.2 mile sporting course at Abbotsley.

Ian Turner led the field home with another impressive time of 25.21, with three of the guests posting sub-28 minutes to take the next three places on a warm and fairly benign evening for the riders.

Simon Richardson, with a 29.54, has taken almost 5 minutes out his opening season time of 34.33 and also is to be congratulated for going sub-30 minutes for the first time. Other PBs on the night from Mark Greenhow, Stephen Lyons, Gareth Smith and David Wilson despite some of the road suffering from loose chippings after being surface dressed.

Gary Newman, our latest new member, delivered a 30.23 on his first visit to the course, and first time guests husband and wife Duncan and Lucy Bush both posted very respectable times on their debut.

Handicap Trophy Standings

17 points were on offer this evening (24 less 6 guests and 1 first time member) and their distribution on the evening had an impact on the placings with the current top 5 all riding.

Simon Richardson took the maximum 17 points to help consolidate his 3rd position in the table with David Wilson taking 16 points and Mark Greenhow 15 points . Gareth Smith with 13.5 points has now taken 1st position and leads by 1.5 points, so the destination of the 2013 Handicap Trophy will be decided at the final TT of the season on 29th August.

It would be very good to see as many riders as possible on that evening at the final TT of the season.
