2nd TT of the season in the wet

Chapeau to the 14 riders who braved the elements last evening to take part in the 2nd TT of the season over the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course.

The rain held off until just before the start time of 7pm and the early riders had to contend with the downpour although it did relent after about 15 minutes.
Much discussion was being held about whether post rain conditions are more favourable towards the riders in terms of performance, however a moot point on this night as no PBs were produced. Simon Elkington was fastest home this evening with Graham Wesson second and Pat Ellerbeck in third spot.
Certainly some more caution than normal was applied through some of the corners and well done to Simon Murphy for being within two seconds of his PB on such a cold and wet evening and picking up the maximum 14 points on offer.
Thanks to Mandy for the time keeping, to Mike Biggs for helping with the pushing off and to Simon Richardson and John Brysden for their help on the night.

Housekeeping : Reminder that the CTT levy increased to £3/TT for 2019 and a request that once the first riders have lined up for the start that other riders do not ride past the start line as part of their warm up.

Next TT – Thursday 9th June  – Sign on by 6.45 and Start at 7.00 pm

Handicap Results

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight 14 riders and 14 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2019 Handicap Trophy you need to do as many TTs as you can and ride as close to or improve on your PB consistently until the end of the season.

Congratulations to Simon for taking the maximum points.

At the moment the two Simon’s are replicating their duel from 2018 when only a few points separated them at the end of the season.
