6 PBs and Handicap Trophy down to the last TT...

Excellent turn out this evening for the penultimate TT of the 2021 season and perhaps the penultimate TT ever on the 11.2-mile Abbotsley course if the new A428 is in place for 2022.

21 riders at the start line this evening with Sam producing his second sub 24 minute time of 23:59 followed by Simon M with first timer Adam Williams posting a very creditable 26:39 to take third fastest on the evening.

6 riders were on fine form – Simon B, Mandy, Norman, Stuart, William and Paul – all finding additional seconds to reduce their respective PBs. Chapeau to Simon for finding 2m 34s on his new TT bike and taking the maximum points in the Handicap Trophy to lead by half a point from Sam

This will be, by far, the closest run in to the final TT that we have had in years. Will it be the first timer Simon or will the 2016 winner Sam prevail. It would be good to see as many riders as possible next week taking part for what might be the last TT on the course and also to ensure that as many points as possible are on offer to decide who wins the2021 Handicap Trophy.

Good to see former member Karl Hiner joining us tonight and our thanks to Mandy and Florence for the timekeeping and also to Florence for helping with the “pushing off” in the absence of father George

FINAL TT for 2021 – THURSDAY 26th August – 7:00 pm START – SIGN ON BY 6:45pm at the latest.

A few housekeeping reminders to keep us all safe and compliant:

  • remember a working rear light – mandated by CTT
  • try not to ride past the start when other riders are starting
  • be aware of cars and other riders after you finish
  • even before covid, Timekeepers need to be able to concentrate on giving every rider the correct time. Please do not try to see your time until everyone has finished
  • Paying in advance is very helpful and thanks to the 22 riders who have done this. Pay for 6 rides (£4 for member, £5 for guest) to 404010 and 80724513 and credit will be carried over for any unused rides.

Handicap Trophy – 2021

Quick reminder that for the Handicap Trophy points are awarded for the number of riders on the night less Guests and First Time Members. So tonight, 21 riders and 18 points on offer. A Handicap Time of 25 minutes or less means that you have either matched your PB or improved on it. A Handicap Time greater than 25 minutes shows how much you are off your PB.

To be in contention to win the 2021 Handicap Trophy you need to ride as close to your PB as possible or set some new PB’s over the next few months.

Congratulations to Simon Brick, for taking the maximum points on offer tonight.
