June Update... by Mark Greenhow

As we are now well in to the season we thought it was time for an update on how the club's time trialists have been fairing so far.

It was great to see Sam McDonald take his first win of the season after an extended run of top five finishes, this came in the NDCA 15 mile event at Sawtry and with Simon Murphy third and Mark Greenhow seventh it was a great day for the club and gave SNCC the prize of fastest team of three on the day, well done all!  Our riders continue to perform well in the NDCA series and it looks like we could be in with a fair chance of winning the overall team prize for the season, there are four more events to come so please enter and join us if you can

We've also seen some outstanding rides from Nic Pillinger who is riding for SNCC this season as he continues to set some blistering times on the local fast courses, Nic has recorded 50.04 for 25 miles and a PB of 1.44.40 at 50 miles so far, with every ride he's done so far resulting in a top ten finish.  It's great to see Nic mixing it up with the region's best time trialists and really putting SNCC on the map!

We are currently just one event in to this year's inter club series with four events still to come, we took five riders to the first event- a 15 mile TT at Bedford and despite our lack of numbers we still recorded a credible third place out of the five local participating clubs. Well done to Sam, Simon's Murphy and Elkington, Shaun and Mark. We do historically struggle to get our riders to come and join us at these events and it would be great to see more SNCC members taking part and representing their club. These events are well suited to anyone who enjoys the Abbotsley TTs and there is always a real cross section of riders of all abilities taking part.  Please do enter if you can and join in with the fun and camaraderie, entry details are on the club website and the cost is just £5 on the day.

Talking of Abbotsley it's been a great start to the season with some impressive PBs being set already and it looks like it will be another competitive battle for the handicap trophy. Please come along and join us on a Thursday evening if you haven't already, after all it's only 11.2 miles, it's a great introduction to time trialling and the coffee and cake Mandy kindly puts on always leaves riders going home with a smile on their face!

We look forward to reporting on many more great time trial performances by our members as the season progresses.
