Given the weather, the Ashman in the afternoon, and  the Peterborough CC sportive it was unlikely that we'd get a big turnout for the club run, so it was no surprise that just four riders left the market Square in the light rain.

Good to see Ade back on his bike after last week's adventure and the rest of the select band consisted of Jason, Joe and Alec. Ade told us that he is planning to ride the Ashman in the afternoon in addition to turning up for the club run. Well, the light rain turned to heavy rain and soon we were splashing through deep puddles, and so it continued for most of the ride except a few miles near the middle. At least two of us complained of trench foot.

The route took us through the Offords to Gamlingay and then on to Longstanton where we got lost for a while and found ourselves in Bar Hill heading for Dry Drayton. There is no way out of Bar Hill by road in the direction of Dry Drayton, except... except there is a cycle track that connects the villages, with barriers just not big enough to cycle through, as we discovered experimentally.  After Dry Drayton, which was anything but dry, we headed back via Hardwick, Toft and Bourn to Abbotsley, where Ade decided to test out the start-finish straight. Between 47 and 54 miles for everyone depending on where they live.

Good luck to all for the Ashman.
