Low winds, warm weather, shorts and jerseys - what was there not to like? 28 riders turned up in the Market Square for the club run - 10 for Group 1 and 18 for Group 2. A few riders had gone up to Rutland to watch the Cicle Classic.
Bomber was responsible for planning and leading the Group 2 ride, whereas Joe was back with a route for Group 1.
Group 2 headed out due south towards Gamlingay and then over to Everton where we headed down Everton Hill. Thought we might see Group 1 coming the other way but didn't. From there we headed west to Great Barford and over the Bedford dual carriageway. We had a planned split at Wilden with some heading straight back to St Neots and others heading north to Keysoe. At the Swineshead Road we turned right instead of left, but that just meant we did the loop through Deane and Kimbolton in reverse. A short halt just before Covington for a p******, but we were soon on our way again and heading back to St Neots. There was nearly a mutiny when some riders though we were going to do Pertenhall Hill a second time but instead we headed straight for Little Staughton and Spring Hill instead. We did about 55 miles altogether at a good pace.
Group 1 also did a ride which was probably a little further and faster - allegedly.
