Club Run Report - 21st July 2013
This week we have a report from new father Chris P on the medium length route. Apparently there was a very big long route group. We haven't heard how the short route got on:
Medium Route
Eight of us left the Market Square for the medium route.
We had a fairly uneventful first part of the ride with both the long ride groups passing us then we re-passed one of them in Offord. In a bit of a departure after Godmanchester we rode down the narrow cycle path that lead to the Hemingfords which gave us the unique chance to shout cow, passing millionaires row and had great fun making childish noises going across the rumble strips on exiting the village. !
After Fen Drayton the fast lads passed us again - apparently they got lost and had a mechanical. Top tip lads - we get the routes emailed each week and they go on those funny electronic devices between the two bendy bits that you hold onto !
Shortly after a quick excursion on the busway we saw what looked like a St Neots rider on all-fours foraging around on the grass verge. Turns out it was David Lindsey trying in desperation to find the valve from his tub.
Queue an impromptu game of hide and seek involving at least four people trying to find the wayward valve which was eventually found and the tub was re-inflated. I told Dave it was karma for polluting the environment each time he recharges his Di2 unit.
We continued through willington and beyond in a nice disciplined fashion until the drag out of box worth split the group. We all regrouped then it was the usual route back of Hilton and Gravely with a quick dash on the Toseland straight.
I am reliably informed that Tony got the town sign with some unashamed wheel sucking.
