Despite the glorious break in the weather the short ride only attracted 3 riders (including myself) to the Market Square, but nonetheless a big welcome to Eva and David. We were expecting regular rider Colin but rumours of an early puncture suggested he might be delayed, or was it just an elaborate ploy to avoid the slog back up Paxton Hill?

Due to our small numbers we decided to join forces with the slower medium distance group for the first part of the ride and headed out of town towards the Col du Gt Paxton. As expected Colin was picked up at the top of Paxton Hill where he reported TWO early punctures. Once on the Toseland straight we settled into a steady pace.

The groups broke off to their seperate routes at Papworth and as we rolled into Elsworth the cry of "mechanical" came, it appears the puncture fairy was clinging to Colin's seatpost today, as he had punctured again after hitting a speed bump a tad hard. Once back on the road the rest of the ride was uneventful with the ride completed at an average of 14.5mph in magnificent weather.
