Having lost a valuable hours sleep with the clock going forward last night we were greeted with fog and an air temperature of about 3 degrees. A few of the 13 who met this morning admitted to returning home for additional layers once they found out just how cold it was!
However it must be true that the young do not feel the cold as young Matt (only 22), back for his second ride with us, was in shorts. Also a welcome back to Ashley who was out for his first ride with the club this year.
Our current age range in membership now starts at 22 all the way to 70.
A few of the stalwarts were on the Richardson Rumble 100 miler and probably too much to expect David to be out being a father of only a few days (maybe next week David!!).
The groups near Gamlingay. Group 2 headed for Potton at a steady pace down to Guilden Morden, Meldreth , Barrington and then the turn for home through Haslingfield, the Eversdens and the Gransdens.
Jason led the group out on part of the TT course through Abbotsley on the way back to St Neots. Only 4 ½ weeks left before the 2012 TT season begins on 26th April. In all about 46 miles for Group 2.
Group 1 headed for Royston at a brisk pace. After a successful navigation through the town, there were a couple of decent climbs and some navigation corrections. We briefly lost Ade to the fog, but after a couple of phone calls and search party dispatched we joined up carried on our way.
After crossing the A505 the fog finally lifted and we had a clear run to Barrington and over Chapel Hill to Haslingfield. However, the cold and damp had taken their toll and by the Gransdens there were a couple of tired legs in the group. Altogether, about 55 miles for group 1.
