Chris Preston picked probably the worst day to volunteer to organise the route and lead the group and well done to him and the other 4 for braving the elements on what was a horrible wet and windy morning.
With some of the club going to the Cicle Classic at Rutland , it was five brave souls that turned up at the market square for the Sunday club run despite some encouraging tweets that others might turn up. ( to give some context about the weather only 22 of 155 starters at Rutland finished !!)
The omens where not good for the run with the manageress of Neros opening up for us so we could shelter from the conditions,Richard saying " I think it's clearing up " and Adrian T having a puncture before he had got to the meet.
After exchanging a few words with the mountain bikers ,who where much better dressed for the conditions than we were we set off.
First part of the ride wasn't too bad going through Everton and Blunham as regards the wind but as soon as we turned forwards home from Old Warden it attacked with a vengeance with many of the roads turning to lakes before Cardington.
As we approached the main road that leads to Willington democracy was called into play and all agreed that it would be a good idea to cut the ride short . I for one was happy with that as I was getting dropped like a bag of spuds !!!
We came home via Roxton and Wyboston with Adrian T becoming route master and taking us on a cyclo cross stage into Eaton Socon.
Instead of the advertised 40 miles we eventually done 37..... Thankfully we had no other mechanical problems .
