Out to Old Weston...

So, it’s been a while since we’d had a good ride with the SNOGs due to weather, health issues and other factors. So, when Mike Biggs suggested a breakfast ride in Old Weston there were 6 takers (Mike Biggs, Mark Colmer, Stephen Ellerbeck, Tom Muldoon, Martyn Rooney and myself Norman King.

It was a warmish day but very blustery. Four of us met in St Neots and we met the other two in Gt Staughton. We noticed the roads were slippy in places so we took care, enough of us had fallen off this winter already. I was going OK but did start losing the guys past Stonely but they waited up, my winter bike is so much slower (will be so glad to get my Argon18 back after its respray). We soon got to Old Weston and ordered breakfasts (I went for the lighter option), the other 5 had the full breakfast which you had a choice of tea, coffee and/or and orange. We met Stas (who suggested this in the first place) and later on Ray Wilson came in, it was lovely to see them. We were made very welcome by the local villagers and they seemed to be impressed we’d ridden 20 miles for breakfast. After being fed, we had a couple of pictures taken by Stas. Mark suggested a route home via Alconbury, so off we went. I was losing the guys again. Then when we turned South it became such hard work. But we had to carry on, but, when we got to Brampton I decided to go down the A1, but I couldn't let the guys know. This was an excellent ride, I got 40 miles in, the others got in 43 to 47 miles as they went home via Grafham. All in all, a good ride, tough, but Winter Miles get Summer Smiles. Next proposed ride is Mar 12th, look out for Mark Colmer advertising it.
