I managed to get three others to join me today from Cambourne to sample a ride with the club, so against my better judgement having seen the forecast for near gale force winds and having been under the weather with a cold all week we agreed to set off for St.Neots at 7.40 which with a head wind all the way would have been pushing it a bit.
However one of the guys was ten minutes late leaving us 40 minutes to cover the 12.5 miles. Anyway so off we went only for me to get a puncture at Abbotsley after I'd been bragging about how vittoria tyres never puncture, so we eventually rolled up at the market square at 8.50 in the forlorn hope that there may have been one or two other stragglers- but no such luck.
Anyway after a welcome coffee in nero's we set off via Tempsford and managed a 50 mile circle so it wasn't all in vain.
Hope you had a decent ride and we'll try again soon.

That's a shame, not a great day for it either. We are normally very punctual.
Hope you give it another try soon

I thought that puncture may have been a blessing in disguise- after reading that it seems it was!
Hope to see you on Sunday, the long range forecast is looking slightly better, so fingers crossed

Sounds like you had a good ride anyway. Once the wind died down a bit, it was a lovely day and the floods certainly made for a bit of novelty and interest.
As an aside, do you have anyone of our mobile numbers? If you're running late it is always worth giving us a ring and we can either wait or head in your direction to meet on the road

3 of us ( Ade, Wayne and myself ) did manage to do a group 1 ride in the end, after several aborted routes. We covered 50 miles in very blustery but bright conditions doing what Ade called The Carrington route in reverse. It was hard going with that head wind but we shared the work on the front and had a good ride.

I thought Joe "Irish Stannard" does all the work on the front now?

'The Carrington Route' is that Irish for 'The Cardington Route'?

Not last Sunday... it was seriously energy sapping in that wind...
