A dry day saw another superb turnout for the Sunday club run as 24 riders gathered in the Market Square. There were a few new faces including Ruth and Paul, triathletes, and Adrian Lewis, who has been a member of the club for four years but had never been out on a club run before.
Because of the numbers, Groups 1 and 2 went off separately - Group 1 headed north and Group 2 headed west. The groups were pretty even in size.
Group 1 made the route up on the spot and headed out to the fens which meant a head wind on the home leg - they can blame Justin for that one. They stayed together as a tight bunch and did about 57 miles at over 20mph.
Group 2 headed out via Bolnhurst heading towards Odell and everything was going well until a slight navigational error took them on the A6 several miles north of where they should have been. No matter, as they rode down through Podingtion to Odell and Harrold and back through Milton Ernest and Thurleigh. On the way to Bushmead they met Andy Kinglake going the other way - he turned round and rode back to St Neots with us (making his Sunday run about 14 miles, and therefore disqualifying him from the Bushmead sprint, although he crossed the line first - honours go to Gaddy). About 48 miles for Group 2.
Groups 1 and 2 then took over the Market Square which is fast becoming a cyclists-only zone on late Sunday mornings.
