TT Results - 12th May 2016

Excellent conditions greeted the 35 riders ready to test themselves on the 11.2 mile Abbotsley course. Talk was of the wind on our backs up by the golf course which would be a bonus for many of the riders and this helped contribute towards 8 PBs on the night.

Congratulations to Jason Stuart, a guest rider on the evening, for being the fastest on the night with an excellent 26:39. David Lindsay was the fastest Club member with a 26:44 followed by Simon Rinaldo on 26:50. Special mention to Keith Barton in fourth place on 27:10 who has now taken more than four minutes from his opening time of 31:16 in April 2015.

Sam McDonald turned in his third successive PB of the season and new members to the Club Timothy Ger and Pat Ellerbeck (he is over 60) had times of 27:42 and 30:00 respectively.

Well done to all those achieving PBs on the night – Keith, Sam, Chris, Pat, Neil, George, Jane and Roger.

9 club members this year have completed their first TT around Abbotsley and we would encourage more Club members to at least “Come and Try” the event as it is a very different cycling evening, very sociable and of course there are Mandy’s wonderful cakes to sample at the finish.

Handicap Results

With 25 points on offer (Guests and First Timer do not count) this was a very good night to achieve a PB and congratulations to Roger Silk for improving his PB by almost 3 minutes to take the maximum points.

A quick reminder on the Handicap system. 25 minutes is the base time and your time over 25 minutes is your handicap. So if your first time is 31 minutes then your handicap is 6 minutes until you improve on that time. If you then do 30 minutes your handicap drops to 5 minutes for all subsequent TT’s . A handicap time of less than 25 minutes (see table below) is a PB.

Handicap Results – Total

Keith Barton and Sam McDonald with 5 PBs between them already this season lead the table in the hunt for the 2016 Handicap Trophy. Waiting for any slip up on their part is Jane Kinnaird who is improving week on week and having given birth to her first child in the last few months this deserves a special mention. Neil Adams in his first season is also delivering consistent results.
