Last Thursday, many of the riders found the conditions on 11.2 mile Abbotsley TT course very testing. The wind was not doing the riders any favours up to the turn for the golf club or later as they headed towards the Cinques.
However some riders did cope well with the wind and Adrian Lancaster posted a PB with a 31.35 and also took maximum points in the Handicap with 14 points. Leon Bradford, at 70, demonstrated how to ride into the wind taking 3 minutes of his opening time with a 33.38.
Dom Whitehead who has been riding this course since the 1980’s came close to a sub 30 minutes (one day he may even join the club!!). Steve Blows was another to master the windy conditions and was close to his first sub 30. Richard Hancock however led the field again with an excellent 26.18.
Handicap Points Update
As can be seen from the results table this competition remains wide open and could be won by a number of contenders. A bunched sprint finish still looks on with no one yet able to break away.
Jonathan Pang maintains his lead but David Lindsay is closing the gap again and Steve Pleasance is back in contention with a useful 9 points to take him to third place. Steve Rodley, as predicted, is making a sustained run for the finish and has now moved into 5th place. He has scored an average of 11 points per event to date and if this momentum is maintained then he will be difficult to beat. Steve Blows pushed himself back into possible contention with an excellent 30.20. Adrian Lancaster has 32 points from only 2 TT’s and with a fair wind could easily start to trouble the leader board.
